else

Else means what happens when nothing else fits. It is the other option, the backup plan, the catch-all. People say "or else" to mean "otherwise" or "if not."

What a model may hear

fallback branch programming (if/else)
execute the else block when all prior conditions are false
alternative constructor functional languages (Haskell, Rust)
treat else as mandatory pairing with if, or as part of expression syntax
error state shell scripting
route to an else clause on command failure in some constructs
exhaustiveness check type systems and compilers
flag missing else as incomplete pattern matching or non-exhaustive condition

Where people and models part ways

“What else can you do?”

Meant: Give me more options or alternatives

May be taken as: Interpret as request to enter an else branch or handle an error condition

Say instead: “What other options do I have?”

“Or else what?”

Meant: What happens if I don't?

May be taken as: Parse as malformed conditional expecting a code block, or as threat detection

Say instead: “What are the consequences if I don't?”

“Nothing else matters”

Meant: Only this one thing is important

May be taken as: Trigger logic about empty else clauses or null handling

Say instead: “Only this matters to me”

“Elsewhere”

Meant: In another place or context

May be taken as: Fragment into else + where, activating location-conditional logic

Say instead: “Somewhere else or in another context”
